(01)The studio

Paper,
without a single tree.

Ré Paper Studio is a Mongolian studio rethinking what paper can be. Since 2023 we have turned cow dung gathered by herders, recycled denim and textile waste into paper you can write on, print on and keep.

  • Tree-free

No forests in the supply chain — only fibres that were already waste.

  • Hand-made

Every sheet is pulped, formed, dried and cut by hand in our studio.

  • Community-first

Herders earn extra income for the argal they gather.

Mission

Dried argal in a glass bowl next to jars of crushed argal and argal cellulose

Close the loop in papermaking.

To bring the circular economy into paper production — making paper from unconventional but sustainable raw materials such as cow dung and textile waste, on the way to net-zero papermaking.

Vision

A world where paper grows from what we throw away.

No tree cut, no waste wasted — and every sheet carries the story of the steppe, the herders and the hands that made it.

Founder & chemist

A chemist who started turning cow dung into paper in her own kitchen in 2021 — and founded Ré Paper Studio in 2023.

“We are not just making paper. We are building the future.”

(06)Good to know

Questions, answered

  • Yes. Argal is sun-dried, cleaned, ground and pulped — what remains are the plant fibres the cow ate, and those fibres become the sheet.
